SOO CURLERS ASSOCIATION - Leagues

 

Our leagues are happy to accept team or individual entries.  Fees are determined by the amount of curling the member wants.   The unlimited fee allows the curlers to curl as often as wanted.  Curling begins the Tuesday after Thanksgiving with the season finished early April. 

 

Daytime Leagues

 

Men’s Classic League – Curls during the day.  Teams curl twice a week.  The league is available to men of all ages but consists mostly of retirees.

Tuesday  & Thursday Ladies – Curl Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings.  Tuesdays are regular team competition, eight end games.  Thursday mornings are a pickup league determined each day be a draw from the hat.  Games are six ends.

Stick League – Curls Wednesday & Friday Afternoons.  The league is open to all members.  Teams consist of two players each and are governed by stick league rules.  Convenor – Peter Zultek

Saturday Morning Mercantile League – This league in an associate league and fees are paid by the team.  The league is open to everyone and they curl Saturday mornings unless there is a weekend event.

Evening Leagues

 

Monday Night Co-Ed League – This league curls Monday evenings with  draws at 6:30 and 8:30 - times are rotated.  The league is open to everyone -  there are mixed teams, men’s teams and women’s team.  Teams are set up in skill level divisions.

Tuesday & Thursday Night Men’s – Open to all men.  Competition levels are determined by skill of team.  There are two draws per evening and draw times are rotated.

Wednesday Night Business Girls – League curls at 6:30 and is open to all women.  The league curls 4 events during the season.  Convenor – Linda Neilson

Learn to Curl –  Coached by qualified coaches, we have a Learn to Curl program from October until Christmas.  This includes delivery and strategy sessions both on and off the ice. After Christmas the new curlers are put on teams and curl in the Wednesday Night League.  This program is open to all.

Forestry Friday Night Mixed League – The league is an associate league which pays by the team and curls two draws each Friday Night.  It is primarily a fun league but is open to all curlers.

Youth Curling

 

Youth Learn to Curl – Taught by qualified coaches, program runs from November until March from 5:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m.  Program is open to students from Grade 5 on.  Curling begins early November and concludes in March.

Youth League – This league is open to all youth with at least 1 year of Learn to Curl.  Curlers may enter as teams or individually.  They curl from 4:15 until 5:30 p.m.  Curling be gins early November until March.

High School League – The league consists of teams from any local Secondary School.  The league is governed by Secondary School competition rules.  Curling takes place each Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45 p.m. until 5:45 p.m.  Teams begin practice late October, draws begin mid November.  Season concludes with NOSSA playdowns in March.  Convenor – Blythe Servant
